Claude's Kitchen Parsons Green (Still) perfect for lunch and dinner

My time at this spot never gets old… i'm doing my best to get in as many visits to my lovely local till we move across the river. This is about my tenth visit (luckily for you I don't blog it every time!!) and what better way than to celebrate the sale of my flat, a new home and a new job than at my favourite eatery.

Saturday we saw not only gorgeous Winter sun weather, but two of our friends whom had come back from a couple of weeks in Kenya (therefore horribly brown!). A Christmas catch-up was needed and Claude's was number one on their list.

On recent visits their mushroom dishes have always gone down superbly with Mr D and friends and seeing trompettes on the menu I went straight for these, not really looking at anything else! The smoky potato was smooth, silky and gave a really warm depth of flavour to he whole dish. The trompettes were dense with their earthiness and the olive powder and paprika set this off perfectly. A wonderful protein free starter where meat or fish didn't go amiss!

My main was crispy bream, almond milk, fennel, spiced cauliflower, dill and crumbs. One of the best fillets of fish I have eaten, it was cooked to absolute perfection - the crispy skin was awesome! Spiced cauliflower was a lighter version of it's take away sister Aloo Gobi, well spiced so that it didn't take over the delicate fish and also letting the other elements shine through.

The four of us shared a pudding - it's hard to resist! The only thing I have ever seen consistently on Claude's menu is his caramel cloud - coming in slightly different forms each week. This time with beet, raspberry, hazelnuts and eucalyptus. It's out of this world and becoming in my eyes his signature pud! I absolutely love it.

As always it's such a treat to have this on our doorstep and im sure we will miss it greatly for regular drop in meals!!
