The Big Easy - a classic

Design my night
The Big Easy is somewhat of a Kings Road institution. Where the posh-o's get their fix of finger lickin' ribs and fantastically priced lobster. Mr D and I go for the wings every time and almost always over lunch as they do a great £10 set menu which includes a drink, starter and main out of a choice of six or seven dishes within each section. Bargain!!!

The restaurant is great fun for large groups as they have a live band till late downstairs every night and do large sharing platters to place in the middle of the table. Week nights showcase their 'all you can eat' themed events as well as an a la carte menu and bibs are encouraged - this is messy stuff and flavoured margaritas are 'slush puppy-esque' from dispensers behind the bar.

We went with our usual: Voodoo wings with celery and blue cheese sauce. Green bits out the way (I loathe celery) these babies are like no other... crispy, zingy, sticky, juicy, spicy the sauce is unreal (and verry orange!) the chicken is tender and plentiful - so scrimping on portions in this joint. I am never disappointed with this as a starter - the voodoo shrimp is also just as good.

For our mains Mr D went for the 1/2 rack of ribs which comes with a 1/4 chicken, slaw and BBQ beans (fries were extra). The meat is always succulent, falling off the bones and coated in their signature lip smackingly good BBQ marinade - Uh- Mazing.

Due to going out for dinner and not wanting to full my stomach too much I went for the fire roasted jumbo shrimp caesar salad. The prawns were HUGE and absolutely delicious. Coated in a sticky sweet BBQ sauce. The crispy salad was heavily dressed in a tangy, cheesy caesar sauce with plenty of parmesan and hidden garlic croutons  Not one I would choose when going to The Big Easy as it seems a sin to not order ribs or Lobster this was a good example of how to do a 'full on' caesar salad.

My only issue was that as I didn't have the free beer or another of alcoholic drinks in the offer I was charged for my bottled water which I don't think should be right, Mr D's coke was taken off. However one cannot complain that for the two of us for 2 courses, tummy filling food and extras the bill came in with service at £34.59.

It's certainly not first date nor gaze into each other's eyes type of meal. It's full on, put on a bib, get stuck in and have a good time.
