Megan's Kings road...

A new job offer and an engagement within my little group of London lovelies (girls I've met whilst living here), called for a dinner catch up at our favourite spot.

Megan's is an incredible little gem near Fulham Broadway, on the Kings Road, amongst furniture shops and boutiques which one can only dream of ever shopping in...one day..maybe...probably not.

It's a deli and restaurant throughout the day from morning until late at night, but what is most fantastic about this place is its gorgeously romantic garden out back... As the evening light dims the fairy lights go on and candles are lit. In Summer months, when booking, please state that you want to sit out here as it is really magical!

We settled down to a bottle of prosecco and lots of gossip, ring oo-ing and ahh-ing and general clinking of glasses to multiple celebrations.

The menu at night is 'fuss and fancy free'. Starters consist of anti-pasta, fish and other Mediterranean dishes. The mains are a selection of char-grilled meat and fish all served with a salad and match-stick chips. Steaks, salmon, octopus and skewers with their choice of four sauces (salsa verde, bernaise, garlic/parsley butter and a tomato and coriander salsa) all sat there glaring at me. So too did the sharing plates of bbq-ed chicken for 2 and also the Cote de boeuf. It's such a simple menu but it's seriously hard to chose from.

The delicious bread basket arrived as we were making our choices,  Grilled Milk & Honey Sourdough which, unlike many other restaurants, is complimentary and there is plenty of it.

Decisions made, two of the group settled on the bavette steaks with bernaise sauce, whilst myself and Miss L-J had the Tiger Prawns with salsa Verde.

Six large butterflied prawns arrived and I certainly wasn't disappointed, nicely charred on the outside to give some added flavour they were otherwise left plain and were absolutely delicious! The salsa verde was perfect and added a good sharpness to the sweet prawns. The chips are in a word, amazing! So crunchy and moreish it's very hard not to ask for an extra portion for the table to be piggy, but the portion you get is more than enough.

On a couple of tables there were large birthday groups happily enjoying their enormous platters of anti pasta and mixed grills, all of which looked incredible.

Megan's is wonderful. Every time I come here I wonder why I haven't been more recently. A decent bottle of wine, main course and service, came to a fantastically reasonable £24pp. It has a wonderful atmosphere and will definitely be a place I'll be considering to host a birthday. If you're in the area make it a mini-mission to go here, it's a little bit of The Med in the heart of London.
