Blissful Bristol

Hotel 38 Clifton:

I love a wedding and a weekend out of London. Therefore a combination of the two could only mean an excellent weekend ahead.

Knowing Bristol fairly well (due to my brother studying there), my father booked 6 of us into 'Hotel 38' in Bristol's leafy and beautiful Clifton Village.

After reading up a little and hearing about it from my family I was certainly looking forward to it. Hotel 38 is a small hotel consisting of only 10 bedrooms. It is one of those places where you immediately start thinking you want to live there. An excellent boutique hotel where the staff excelled and the rooms are all decorated slightly differently and all stunning. If you can, ask for a room with a city view over looking Clifton as shown below it is rather lovely...

Mr D and I stayed in room 005 (see images) which is a superior House room. From £115 inc. breakfast I think you will agree it is gorgeous.

It's places like this where I find real inspiration for our own little bolt hole in Parson's Green I absolutely love the panelling on the walls however this would only work in a much bigger pad!

What was the winner for Mr D was a HUGE roll-top bath and for me the gorgeous Ren toiletries.

The bed was super comfy and enormous perfect to plonk fuzzy heads after a wild wedding party. The mini-bar is also packed with goodies which my father tried to entice Mr D with (another) bottle of Merlot at 2:30am...

Breakfast was a choice of Danish pastries, juices, grenola, egg's anyway you like and also a (well needed) cooked full- English breakfast served in the dining room shown below - no complaints whatsoever.

We had a wonderful stay and it's easy to see why this was voted by The Times as 'One of the coolest places to stay in the UK'... a real must for anyone wanting to visit Bristol.
